I actually started this piece at the end of January but got distracted along the way and as a result it wasn’t completed until now.
It was inspired by the work of Renato Casaro, in particular a painting of his called Schirokko.
I wanted to create a powerful, iconic image within a narrow, portrait-style composition and came up with the idea of a man who, for one reason or another, has been ‘offered’ to the sky and struck by lightning.
